Redefining healthcare as we know it, in the Palatine community.

Physical health includes any aspect of your health that affects the way you physically interact with your environment - how you walk, talk, move around, how you chew, breathe, and even how you think about these things.

Many people think of only consulting a physical therapist when they have pain or problems, but it's even more important to look at what you can do to prevent pain or problems from occurring. This is why I offer a comprehensive, revolving-door model of care where we establish an ongoing relationship so that you can improve your health behaviors and know what to do if problems arise.

I can evaluate and help manage any condition that affects your ability to move or function. This often involves collaboration with the rest of your healthcare team. My specialty areas include but are not limited to adult medically complex orthopedic and cancer-related cases, as well as hip/pelvic disorders, women's health and spinal disorders. Individuals and families with children 5+ are welcome to join my practice!

PATIENT REVIEWS

Anthony Hayt, PhD

Gym Owner

Dr. O'Bright is a skilled, creative provider who has helped me with a mixture of classic physical therapy techniques and newer techniques like dry needling. I've been lucky to have her assistance as both a student and a patient of hers, and she has been equally helpful in both settings. As an athlete with multiple long-term issues, she had helped me refocus my training in ways that allow me to continue my progress while minimizing the negative impacts of my injuries. This has included both form/technique assistance and treatment options. I highly recommend her, no matter what your level of activity or need.

Catherine Sardo,

Nurse Practitioner

Dr. O'Bright sent articles and videos describing my tennis elbow in ways that my primary care, PT, and OT missed. She is a gifted teacher and asked the right questions. She ensured that I was feeling the right stretch so that I could learn the exercises needed to restore the strength in my right arm. I highly recommend Dr. O'Bright and will seek her services in the future.

Susan Christie,

Physical Therapist

Certified in Therapeutic Yoga

The practice of physical therapy is one that has changed significantly over the past few years. Many practices are overbooked, and the PTs are often not the ones providing the actual care. It was very refreshing when I visited Katie, to help me with my tennis elbow. It was something that has been lingering and interfering with my work and play. Katie was attentive and intuitive, and she provided one on one care. For me, the magic bullet was the dry needling. She combined this with other hands on techniques and I finally had relief from the chronic ache. Personalized medicine is the way our health care system is evolving and I highly recommend Katie to help you achieve your own personal health goals.

MY STORY

Dr. Katie O’Bright is a board certified orthopedic Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). Dr. O’Bright is a veteran of the United States Army, where she served as a Captain and physical therapist for 4 years. While on active duty, Dr. O’Bright served in a primary care role to soldiers with musculoskeletal and functional complaints. She was also active in the development and management of the pregnancy & postpartum program as well as the reconditioning physical readiness training program at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Dr. O’Bright became interested in oncology after working with a young service member who was diagnosed with cancer. After completing her Army service obligation, she took this interest to the University of Oklahoma’s Stephenson Cancer Center, where she enhanced her clinical practice skills in the oncology population. She was an active provider in the cancer “prehab” programs, which educated individuals in the importance of exercise throughout cancer treatment and into survivorship.

Dr. O’Bright has special interests in lumbopelvic and hip disorders, strength and conditioning, dry needling, and the medically complex. Her passion for teaching and primary care led her to start Redefine Health Education, a post-professional education company training PTs in primary care topics. Dr. O'Bright has also served as a lab instructor for several DPT programs, currently at Tufts University in Boston, formerly at University of Pittsburgh.

In her spare time, Dr. O’Bright enjoys cycling, yoga and spending time outdoors with her husband, 2 sons, and Chocolate Lab. She dabbles in painting, enjoys live music, and is a proud fan of the Buffalo Bills.
